Reddit: what's available

Reddit's write surface is deliberately small right now — here's what's available, what isn't, and why.

Reply is paused app-wide

Reddit's Responsible Builder Policy closed self-serve OAuth app approval, so `reply` is disabled for every rule regardless of trigger — not just new ones. If you had a reply rule from before the pause, it no longer executes; SocFlow blocks it in the backend, not just in the rule builder. Reply comes back the moment Reddit's approval process is viable again.

What you can build today

Any Reddit trigger (keyword match, subreddit post, new comment, trending post) paired with Tag author — flags a match on the Contacts page for you to act on manually — or Webhook, which forwards the raw event to a URL of your own so you can reply, DM, or anything else through your own tooling.

The guardrails Reddit's replies get once they return

Every reply SocFlow ever sent on Reddit appended a bot-disclosure footer ("I am a bot, and this reply was posted automatically via SocFlow") and used a descriptive, per-account User-Agent on every request — both direct requirements of Reddit's own API rules, not optional extras. Those stay in place for when reply comes back.

More platforms

See Mastodon and Bluesky for platforms with a fuller write surface, or platform rules to respect for a summary of every platform SocFlow connects to today.
